Currently Principal Bassoon of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Second Bassoon with the Akron Symphony Orchestra, and Lecturer of Bassoon at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, Cleveland-based Thomas English
leads a vibrant musical career in the orchestral, chamber music, and teaching spheres. Before joining the faculty at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, Mr.
English served as Principal Bassoon with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Principal Bassoon with the National Symphony Orchestra.  

He has performed around the country with the major orchestras in New York, Boston, Atlanta, Detroit, St. Paul, and Cleveland. Mr. English performed
extensively in solo and chamber music settings, as well as orchestrally with
the American Symphony Orchestra, at Bard College’s Music Festival as guest artist in 2024 and 2025. He spent multiple summers at the Music Academy of the West and the Tanglewood Music Center during his studies, and holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard School, studying with George Sakakeeny and Judith LeClair respectively. He is the
current Principal Bassoon Designate of The Florida Orchestra, where he will
begin in the Fall of 2026.
