James Rester
Principal Horn
James Rester, a native of Monroeville, Alabama and a decorated veteran of the United States Army, is a nationally recognized orchestral horn player and soloist. He has performed with and recorded for the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra among other fine orchestras. Mr. Rester has been lauded for his "fine horn solos," "impressively high passages," and "bravura style" in his performances both as Principal Horn and as a soloist. In addition to the Lake Placid Sinfonietta, James is Third Horn in the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and freelances up and down the east coast. He has advanced in auditions for orchestras such as Boston Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, and Milwaukee Symphony. When he isn't performing or studying music, he coaches students and aids colleagues, giving back to the musical community. He maintains a small horn repair shop as well. Otherwise, he enjoys spending time with his wife Mirella (Second Horn) and their five cats.
