Anne Hurd

Board Member

Anne Hurd is a graduate of Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, where she majored in voice and minored in art. After college, she returned to her home state of New Jersey to teach art at the Rumson Country Day School. In August 1979, Anne auditioned for the Metropolitan Opera’s open chorus call—one of 1,100 singers who applied—and was one of just eleven selected. She performed with the Met during its centennial season as a member of the chorus in Les Troyens, and was also honored to sing at the installation of the first female rabbi in the United States.

A lifelong Adirondack visitor whose family has vacationed in the region since the 1860s, Anne became a year-round resident of Keene Valley in 1989. She has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Lake Placid Sinfonietta ever since, joining the Board of Directors in the early 2000s. In addition to her work with the Sinfonietta, Anne has taught at both Keene Central School and North Country School.
